We need an updated css style for edu.tw.o, since edu.css is lacking some things for tiki 1.9.0, and some kind of customization of the header + logo, etc.,

Any volunteers? wink
Any proposals?

(i don't fully like this one simple.css myself, but I changed the default style to this because is a bit more colourful, updated to 1.9.0 - afaik- , and the Catalan language works fine! - there is no issue with the special characters, etc-. )

Simple CSS doesn't work with languages written from right to left.

For a logo how about this? It keeps the theme from the "new" Tiki logo on tw.o and workflow.tw.o, and uses a universal identifier for education...

Hey, Mike, sorry for coming back so late.
Your proposal is a good starting point. I don't get why the apple, though? (logo for workflows? I'm outdated also with workflows...)

For me, it's ok to change the logo, specially if it comes with some changes in th3e theme style using similar colors as in the logo, etc.

In North America a common symbol for education is an apple. Traditionally, school children brought apples to school for their teachers. "Apple of the teacher's eye" and so forth. It may actually come from the symbology of Eve eating the apple from the tree of knowledge. Apple = knowledge.

As for the TW part, that's what was used on tw.o and I subsequently adopted the TW and added the F on the workflow site to stand for TikiWorkFlow?, so I figured I'd incorporate the TW and stick an apple in there to carry the TW "theme" over.

If you don't want to use it, no problem, only took me a few minutes to whip up, but I thought it was a good starting point in the absence of anything else. :)

Hi Mike:

For me it's ok:

Maybe the font for the text doesn't fit with the tikipedia theme, but for what you say, the mean of the apple (fits the context (I didn't know about that, it's not that intuitive in the European context, afaik; we use to recognize an owl as a symbol of knowledge ...)
http://www.owlpages.com/owl-clipart.php

Maybe we can leave some weeks time to see if anybody else comes around from the former users of this site, and we decide? (if nobody else says anything, it's ok for me to change it)

Cheers

Xavi

It's interesting to me the more I run into folks from abroad how cultures differ! In North America the Owl symbolizes Wisdom, which we consider different from knowledge. The Wise Old Owl may not be very smart, but he is wise. I learn something new every day! :)

Maybe I could find some way of sticking an owl in there somewhere.
